Predicting Your Baby’s Sex

Well, I promised you yesterday that I’d tell you my theory on predicting the sex of your baby.  It’s terribly unscientific and totally just my opinion so there you have the disclaimer.   Most of the people who seemed to want to predict my baby’s sex would use this method:  When I was carrying “wide”, meaning that the bulk of the baby seemed to be all around, from side to side, then they predicted I was having a girl.  When I was carrying all “out front” (in other words, the bulk of baby was sticking out in the front like the prow of a ship), then they predicted I was having a boy.  That actually held true, in the case of both of my pregnancies.

But back to my own theory.  When I was expecting my daughter, I suffered from swollen ankles, lots of water retention, and very stuffy nose.  When I was pregnant with my son, I didn’t have the swelling or the water retention, nor the stuffiness.  So I figured out that if you are carrying a girl, it must release a lot of extra hormones into your system which is already loaded with hormones and thus, you tend to experience all the symptoms of girly type stuff like when you are approaching your period and get all bloated.  You’re kind of overdosing on female hormones.  But when you are carrying a boy, they are more testosterone so you don’t have that extra influx of hormones from the baby so you are apt to have less problems with swelling, acne, bloating, mood swings, etc.

Well, I told you it was not scientific at all.  I can only attest that it held true in my case.  My second pregnancy was nothing at all like my first and I was convinced that the 2nd baby was going to be a boy.

Feel free to come up with your own method of speculation for predicting the sex of your baby or future grandchild.  After all, you’ve got a 50/50 chance of being right.
